HOTELS Global Hotel Rankings Released: China Holds 15 of the Top 50 Spots

The US-based "HOTELS" magazine recently published the latest annual "Global Hotel Group Rankings". According to data as of the end of 2022, the top three hotel groups in the world with the most guest rooms are still Marriott, Jinjiang, and Hilton. The hotel groups ranked 4th to 10th are: Intercontinental, Wyndham, Accor, Huazhu, Choice, Home Inn, and BWH. Chinese hotel groups on the Top 50 list also include: Green, Shangmei, Kaiyuan, Yibon, Mingyu, Fengyue, Licheng, Barony, SSAW, Landison, Gongsheng, and Wanda. (Sohu)

 

Ministry of Culture and Tourism: Total domestic tourist visits in the first half of 2023 reached 2.384 billion, with domestic tourism revenue of 2.3 trillion yuan

The Ministry of Culture and Tourism announced the domestic tourism data for the first half of 2023 on July 13. According to the results of a domestic tourism sampling survey, in the first half of 2023, the total number of domestic tourist visits was 2.384 billion, an increase of 929 million compared to the same period last year, an increase of 63.9%.

In the first quarter of 2023, the total number of domestic tourist visits was 1.216 billion, a year-on-year increase of 46.5%. In the second quarter, the total number of domestic tourist visits was 1.168 billion, a year-on-year increase of 86.9%. In the first half of the year, domestic tourism revenue (total tourist expenditure) was 2.3 trillion yuan, an increase of 1.12 trillion yuan from last year, an increase of 95.9%. On July 13, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism released the "2022 Cultural and Tourism Development Statistics Bulletin" (hereinafter referred to as the "Bulletin"). The "Bulletin" shows that the total number of domestic tourist visits in 2022 was 2.53 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 22.1%. Domestic tourism revenue (total tourism consumption) was 2.04 trillion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 30.0%.
